Platform LiftsThere are approximately 600,000 wheelchair users in the UK alone, all of whom have special access requirements. The Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) requires public buildings and workplaces to cater for these requirements. Platform lifts are powered devices that raise a wheelchair and its occupant, allowing them to overcome steps or similar vertical barriers. We have supplied lifts for over twenty-five years and our units are in use at sites all over the UK. They are suitable for a wide range of applications, including banks, museums, shops, offices, and leisure facilities. We employ experienced sales persons and engineers, who assist customers from initial planning, through to installation and commissioning. Platform Lifts to Suit Any RequirementsWe offer a comprehensive range of high quality, cost effective platform lifts and tailor models to suit individual customer requirements. Our range include Premier, which travels up stairs on a wall mounted track. When not in use the platform folds up, leaving the stair way unobstructed. Other platform lifts include Supreme, which is ideal for outdoor applications, Excel, a scissor lift that requires no external wall for support, and Prestige. Prestige is freestanding, travels nine metres, and lifts up to 400kg. All our lifts come with a twelve month guarantee, and inclusive service visits in the first year of ownership. Prestige is one of the few platform lifts to have Local Authority National Type Approval Confederation (LANTAC) certification. This reduces the need for consultation with local councils at the planning stage. Prestige is available is available in numerous colours and finishes, making it aesthetically versatile. Safe, Reliable Platform LiftsOur platform lifts operate reliably and withstand rigorous use. They have a variety of built-in safety features, which include interlocking doors to prevent people entering the shaft (if applicable), hand winding systems in case of power failure, carriage alarms, and chain mesh to enclose the mechanism in the case of scissor platform lifts like Supreme. OptionsUsers can customise our platform lifts with a range of options. Depending on the model, these include different door configurations, shaft glazing, carriage communication devices, and key isolation systems to prevent misuse. We also offer a designated user control (DUC) switch. When a lift is idle for a predetermined period of time, the DUC switch instructs the platform to move between landings. This means all doors automatically lock, preventing anybody entering the shaft. The DUC switch is useful in schools, where platform lifts offer a hiding place for young children! Dundas Castle Invests in Platform LiftA recent application is Dundas Castle. Built in 1416 and located near South Queensferry to the west of Edinburgh in Scotland, Dundas Castle is a historic building. It now operates as a five-star exclusive hire venue for weddings, corporate functions, and parties. Dundas Castle is a public venue and classes as a service provider. Under the DDA, this means it must be accessible to wheelchair users. The castle opted for Prestige, one of our most popular platform lifts. The three stop unit allows less able visitors to reach the building’s upper floors. Its customised platform means it fits within the confines of an existing lift shaft. |
