Prestige Lift Encourages Outdoor Pursuits

The Prestige is the most popular platform lift in our Companion range. It is a fully enclosed machine with a travel height of up to three storeys and is intended for use by the less able and the wheelchair user.

In the past two years, we have installed more than 300 Prestige units, each unique in terms of its design and specification. Apart from satisfying all relevant legislation and assisting the less able to access previously inaccessible services, they have one other thing in common - they are all located inside buildings.

Until recently the Prestige, unlike the other models in the our range, has only been available for internal use.

Now we are pleased to announce we can supply a Prestige, fully specified for outdoor installation. Under the terms of the Disability Discrimination Act, all service operators have to have made reasonable adjustments to their premises to ensure equality of access for the less able. A platform lift is often the only viable option, particularly in existing buildings, where space does not permit the use of a conventional passenger lift.

Where the internal space will not accommodate a platform lift, it is now possible to get around the problem by installing a Prestige platform lift externally.

The Prestige will travel up to three storeys, has a rated load of 400 kilograms and is totally self-contained. It only requires a 240 volt single phase supply and comes complete with a shaft supplied by us. It has a 1100mm by 1400mm platform, large enough for a wheelchair user and their carer.

Being a self-contained unit Prestige requires no additional supporting structure. This means it is a very cost effective solution.

Examples of where the new model may be of particular relevance include; sports stadia, car parks, retail parks and railway stations.
