When Sure Start, an organisation dedicated to improving quality of life for children, parents and communities, needed a new disabled lift at their centre in Lancashire, they approached movemanSKG.

The disabled lift was installed to improve disabled access for visitors and employees and travelled a height of three metres over two floors. Sure Start also specified that they required a telephone, emergency back up battery power and a DUC (Designated User Control) switch.

The DUC switch acts as a safety precaution against children for instance, who love such devices. When the lift has been left idle for a certain amount of time, the DUC switch automatically shifts the disabled lift’s position to between landings. The result of this is that landing doors lock, preventing unauthorised access.
